U.S. and India Trade Relations: The Next Decade and Beyond…
A recent news report by the Confederation of India Industry predicts U.S. -India trade could increase by eight-fold in the next 10 years. As India’s largest trade partner in trade, technology and investment (as well asĀ service andĀ economic growth through outsourcing, which brought in around $20 billion in trade in 2007), trade to and from the U.S. could grow to nearly $320 billion by 2018. Currently at $42 billion since 2007, trade has increased through tourism, logistics, telecom and entertainment.
What are in the plans for the next 10 years?
Nuclear energy.
“India intends to import 24 reactors in the next 11-15 years, and could create as many as 20,000 new jobs directly and indirectly in the U.S. from nuclear trade,” the report said.
The report also addresses cooporation in renewable energy and climate change, higher education, agriculture and more.
